Clinical Child Psychologist

Zahwa is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (CPDPE), and a member of The British Psychological Society (MBPsS) as well as The American Psychological Association. Her Master of Science in Clinical Child Psychology (MSc) was obtained from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and she received her Bachelor of Art in Psychology (Hons) from UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur.

Her professional training and clinical work experience was gained from The Behman Hospital, The Psychiatric Medical Hospital, and Child Care Clinic in Egypt. In addition, She was involved in the educational sector by working with children from different backgrounds and facilitating their day to day activities in a kindergarten, Cambridge. She has also volunteered in an orphanage, where she conducted mental health awareness and psychosocial activities in Malaysia.

She works with children, adolescents, and young adults on a wide range of developmental challenges and mental health disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at all stages of development. Providing support for families and parent-related concerns as well as helping children cope with stresses such as divorce, family or school transition, abuse, anger management and bullying are part of her experience.

She used different modality incorporates an empathetic, practical, playful and relational approach to psychotherapy with children and their families. I use evidence-based techniques in my therapeutic work including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She believes in the importance of liaising and collaborating with schools and working closely with parents and family members to provide the best support for young people.
