Nermeen is a consultant psychiatrist with extensive experience in psychotherapy with adults and adolescents for over fifteen years. She got her Master’s degree in 2012.

In parallel to her clinical practice, she has been working in community-based mental health psychosocial support (MHPSS) service development and provision in diversity and low-resourced contexts for marginalized populations, such as children-at-street situation, children living and families living in domestic violence and people with mental illness with lack of access to mental health services at several international NGOs such as Save the Children, UNICEF Turkey, Medicines Du Monde, PSTC/TdH for refugee mental health and psychosocial support. During this period, she developed wide range of skills related to: supervision skills with mental health teams that included psychologists, primary health care (PHC) centers staff and social workers; mental health Projects’ management; training and capacity building planning and implementation skills; strengthening of mental health services to improve access of people-at-risk with mental needs and challenges to these services.

Nermeen is an experienced therapist using several modalities in psychotherapy; such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) by Linehan Institute, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by Beck Institute, and Couple therapy “Emotional Focused Therapy” by an accredited EFT trainer. Lately Nermeen developed an interest in helping trauma survivors and she became an accredited EMDR therapist (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, an evidence-based therapeutic intervention that treats different types of mental health disorders, such as, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression and panic attacks. She is trained by Trauma Aid UK and EMDR UK trainers.
