Dr.Maha is a professor of psychiatry and the Head of Psychiatry Department, faculty of medicine, Beni Suef university. She has 25 years of experience of wide clinical experiences in working with adults, children and adolescents with different varieties of problems.

She worked as a director of the Child and Adolescent Unit of the General Secretariat for Mental Health- Ministry of Health & Population from 2010-2013. During her work in ministry of health she was interested of capacity building of mental health providers in different areas of Egypt.

She worked in several projects with national and international organizations.

Qualifications of her are M.B.B.Ch., December 1997 and signed up excellent with honors, faculty of medicine Cairo University. Master degree in Psychiatry and Neurology, November 2003, Doctorate degree (MD) May 2008.

Dr.Maha obtained the Master Degree of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Cairo University at 2012 to be a  Certified consultant Child & adolescent psychiatry at  2013. Since then she became a member of American Academic Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2013.

She is a founding member and currently she is the General Secretary and of the Egyptian Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Association (ECAPA) and the Head of the scientific committee of ECAPA annual conference.

Maha has always been active in medical training and teaching. She is a board member of scientific committee of Egyptian fellowship of child and adolescent psychiatry.

Maha has a great interest in psychotherapy and has been practicing it herself over 20 years. She believes in the major role of psychotherapy in providing cure for her clients and in improving the quality of life. So, she was keen to learn and study different modalities of psychotherapy to help different patients. She is trained on Eclectic approached that includes several modalities of therapeutic techniques like on Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT) , Acceptance and  Commitment Therapy (  ACT) ,  Interpersonal Therapy  , Mentalization Based Therapy and Gestalt. She is certified practitioner of Eye movement Desentization and reprocessing (EMDR) , in adults , children and adolescents, by British trainers accredited by EMDR Europe.

She is interested in infant and preschool stages. She is trained on NBAS neonatal behavioral assessment scale from Brazelton   Center, UK.  and watch wait and wander from Oxford Baby Project, UK.

She believes in the role of family in promotion of their children mental health. So she is practicing family interventions and parenting therapy as a central part of treating children and adolescents. Currently she works with UNICEF in developing national parenting program.
